CESPA SIGNS THE DIVERSITY CHARTER IN THE FIRST MEETING HELD IN CATALONIA

The Diversity Charter is a protocol to be offered to all the companies and institutions, the main objective of which is to support and foster the principles of inclusion of diversity and non-discrimination within the labour environment of the companies and institutions working in Spain.

At signing the Charter, CESPA agrees to continue generating an inclusive environment, which is socially sustainable, efficient from the business point of view and legally respectful with the standards in force. It is an environment that provides some added and differential value to the organizations, which facilitates factors that cause innovation and economic efficiency, apart from a higher social integration of its employees. It is a commitment towards competitiveness, innovation and business sustainability, which are essential factors to create value in any organization.

In this way, CESPA goes a step forward towards the creation of a community of organizations and companies that share their worries about the principles of equality and respect towards diversity, that work in order to have a diverse and integrating staff.

The signature of the Diversity Charter demands a compromise with the need to spread the message towards the whole environment of the company. For this purpose, the Commission of the European Union argues that the management of diversity is an essential strategy and it assures that 70% of the European companies consider that the implementation of conciliation programmes improves the management capacity of its organization. On the other hand, 60% of said companies relate the implementation of diversity management and anti-discriminatory policies with the access to new market segments and the improvement of the level of the service rendered and of the customer’s satisfaction.

In Spain, the Diversity Charter is implemented within the framework of the anti-discrimination Directives adopted by the European Union in the year 2000. It receives the direct support of the General Department in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission and the Equality Ministry. This protocol has already been implemented in France, Belgium and Germany, where it has been supported by its Prime Minister, Angela Merkel.
