Madrid, 10th December 2009. National Heritage has awarded Cespa, subsidiary of Ferrovial Servicios, the largest contract in Europe for historic gardening management.
Cespa will carry out the maintenance, conservation and recovery actions in the historical gardens of La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia, El Escorial, Campo del Moro, Aranjuez and El Pardo in Madrid; together with the Monastery of Las Huelgas Reales in Burgos, the Monastery of Santa Clara in Tordesillas, Valladolid; the Monastery of Yuste in Cáceres, and the Royal Sites of Madrid: the Monastery of La Encarnación, the Monastery of Las Descalzas Reales, the Monastery of Santa Isabel and the Pantheon of Illustrious Men.
Cespa will include the latest innovations in the management area and regarding agronomic issues. Among these, the implementation of a computerised system to control all the actions, the sustainable treatment of the waste generated or an efficient irrigation management, all stand out. Also, the woodland will be controlled via physical and mechanical studies to control their development.
The contract implies campaigns to plant over 180,000 flowers a year and almost 1,000 large trees. Likewise, over 8,600 cubic metres of waste will be managed each year.
