Barcelona, 16th February 2010. Cespa, a subsidiary of Ferrovial Servicios, has inaugurated the new container selection plant of Els Hostalets de Pierola, in Barcelona. Treating 15,000 tonnes of containers a year, the plant will guarantee the treatment of containers selectively collected in the regions of Baix Llobregat and Vallès Occidental.
The container selection plant, designed by the technical services of Cespa and built by Ferrovial Agroman, occupies a surface area of 4,205 square metres and is fully automated. The technologies developed will make it possible to recover up to 85% of the materials treated.
The state-of-the-art installation has an unloading trench with a capacity for 150 tonnes, an optical detection system separating paper, cardboard and Tetra Briks and a system for magnetic separation of ferrous materials and inductive separation of aluminium. In addition, it includes a CCTV monitoring system to keep a check on the entire system.
The plant is integrated in the Integral Treatment Centre of Can Mata, where Cespa also manages a controlled class II waste deposit and the Ecoparque 4 metropolitan treatment centre which is under construction.
